Chili for the day.

 Ingredients:

1  tsp oil
1 pd ground beef or pork (one pd =454 gr.)
1 med sweet onion chopped
1 small green pepper seeded and diced
1 small red pepper seeded and diced
2 jalapenos seeded and finely chopped (jalapenos are hot)
15 button mushrooms sliced
1 can tomato sauce 680 ml (3 cups)
3 Tsp tomato paste
2 garlic cloves minced
1 tsp cumin
3 tsp chili powder
2 tsp oregano
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cocoa
1 can bean medley 540 ml rinsed
1 can red kidney beans 540 ml rinsed
Salt and pepper to taste

Heat the oil in a large ovenproof casserole over medium high heat. Add the ground beef or pork and cook stirring until lightly browned.
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the onion the peppers, the mushrooms, the jalapenos and cook for 5 minutes.
Stir in the remaining ingredients, bring to a boil, and then let simmer over medium low heat, stirring frequently for 1- 1:30 hours.
I love easy recipes that cook slowly and the spices blend and develop to form a tasty dish.
Serve in a soup bowl and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
This is my adaptation of different chili recipes that I tried and liked.
